Café in the historical rooms of Dobřichovice castle
We added a contemporary spatial layer to the first floor space with preserved wall paintings. It intersects the entire wing of the castle as a geometrically shaped spatial line. The patterned fabric, however, covers the contemporary shaping with a layer of decor with its own geometry. It thus shifts the modelling of the structure to a position within the series of layers through which the café space is created. The surface of the structure offers the observer rather a preoccupation with the fabric's own geometric space, a reflection of the surrounding environment, a camouflage, a spatial imprint of the outer walls of the mansion within its own rooms.
The inserted structure contains surfaces for display and spaces for storing the offered objects of the planned design shop. It defines smaller nooks in the large rooms, allowing the installation of additional lighting.
